407th RRD Unit Patch
Not long after the 407th unit arrived in Vietnam, members of the unit created a distinctive unit insignia worn as a pocket patch on the left breast pocket of the fatigue shirt.
ASA Shoulder Patch
5th InfantryDiv. (Mechanized) Shoulder Patch
Early design using lightening bolt from ASA patch, 5th Div (Red Devils) patch with a devil's head and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) to represent mechanized.
In 1968 and 1969 most of the patches were produced by local Vietnamese at individual sewing machines in Quang Tri City. This resulted in minor design variations , as shown above.

Sometime in 1970, the patches began to be produced professionally in Japan by Kasamaki & Co, LTD., Tokyo.
The Kamasaki patch, front and back, actual size, in its original plastic wrapper.
T-Shirts, coffee mugs, hats and other items bearing the 407th RRD pocket patch imprint may be purchased at the 407th Radio Research Detachment Store.
